You'll marvel at the natural geologic wonders of this beautiful park as you hike along its famous trails. Nestled along State Road 47 southwest of Crawfordsville, the park offers the chance to explore deep, sandstone ravines, walk along stands of aged forests, and enjoy the scenic views along Sugar Creek.
Make sure to visit the Colonel Richard Lieber Cabin, which commemorates the contributions of the father of Indiana's state park system.
During the summer, pool hours may change because of weather and staffing. Please contact the property office for exact times before your visit.
Stayed 6 days late June. Lot's of activities for kids. Tubing/canoeing on the river, small playgrounds. Nearby lodge has outstanding Olympic-sized swimming pool($2/day/person, a game room (if you're so inclined)and tennis courts. Multiple great hiking trail system at the park nearby. Staff is wonderful and very accomidating. Closest town about 5 min. away so you can restock but after that it's about a 25 min. drive. Good cell phone coverage. Wi-Fi available only at lodge.
Many sites have shade but guess about 50% in full sun. Some sites have more privacy than others but few are what you'd call secluded. Little screening between most sites. Most sites have ample room to set up a typical campsite. A few are generous. The 2 bathrooms we used were basic, but kept clean. Shower areas are separate and decent. Only beef was limited supply of luke warm water. BTW, some stalls are much better than others so check the different ones available.
Small town 3 mi. away for restocking essential food items, but just about FWIW, we had a blast and plan on going again even though it's an 4.5 hr. drive.
