Nancy M. | Fort Anahuac County Park | Reviewed on March 24th, 2023 | Fort Anahuac County Park located with Chambers county is just one of several parks offered in this county. Located within the boundries of the town of Anahue it is a great spot to stay if exploring this area. In order to camp here you must contact the county office either by phone, email or in person. We got our permit by stopping at the county office on Airport Road. The permit is free but you can only stay for up to three days. There are no electrical or water hook ups offered even though you will see electrical outlet and water throughout the park. We camped up on the top of the hill when you first enter the park but we did hear later that you can park down by the boat launch although we never saw anyone there. This is a well used day park by the locals with a playground, boat launch, boardwalk and fishing piers. Inside Anahue Park is a beautiful new ball diamond complex so this brings alot of traffic into the park. We were parked not far from the ball diamonds so it got busy when there was a game happening. Next time we will park farther away. A short drive from here is the Anahue National Wildlife Reservation. Here there is a driving loop that goes around the marsh with many different birds and alligators. We spotted 30 alligators but we were told in the warmer weather many people count in the hundreds. Great spot for enjoying this area of Texas and will return here again. | | | This review has been viewed 384 times. |
