The only provincial park on Highway 17 between Sudbury and Sault Ste. Marie, Chutes is an excellent stopover for travellers and a base to explore the North Channel of Lake Huron. Situated on the Aux Sables River, the park gets its name from a chute that once diverted logs around the waterfall. Follow riverside nature trails to see rapids upstream.
Just off the trans Canada highway and an easy walk into Massey this park has the most beautiful hiking spits you'll ever see. Sites are large under large pines for the most part.
We stayed for 6 days. Most campers seemed to be 1 night stopovers. A small and well kept park. Great staff. Good trails. Good swimming. Lots of day trips in the area.
Tips: -pick a site # in the 90's so that you can hear the falls
-take a day trip to Agnew Lake lodge and rent a boat for the day - $85 worth every penny!
-veer off the beaten path for great blueberry picking
