Hayes State Park, in the heart of the Irish Hills, is located on Wamplers Lake and Round Lake great for fishing and boating. The park's close proximity to Michigan International Speedway, crafts and antique shows and Hidden Lake Gardens make Hayes State Park a prime tourist destination.
We stayed July 2014. Very small sites and most are in full sun. If you want some shade try to pick something at the end of the loop. There is no privacy at all.
If you have a big rig you may have trouble fitting it on a site and if it does fit you will not be able to fit your car.
There is a beach area that is nice but not much sand for the little ones. There is a concession stand that rent water toys. A bit of a problem with goose poop on the beach though.
The staff was very nice but the bathrooms could be cleaned on a more regular basis. The water for the sites is very brown but I sure fine for drinking but we bought water for drinking and cooking.
The park had no wood for sale when we were there.
I would not return to this park.
