This rural park offers rolling woodlands and the quiet waters of Hargus Lake. Once part of the state's prairie peninsula, the park's 310 acres showcase a variety of native landscapes and wildlife. A great way to see the park is to hike the 5-mile Hargus Lake Trail, which traverses the entire lake shoreline.
The only campground is across the street and is privately owned and we did not stay there, so I can't review the private campground. However, the state park itself had no swim beach. The entire shoreline of the lake was covered in goose poop. The lake appeared to be popular with fisherman and they did had boat rentals at the state docks.
