Need to get away? Take a short road trip from DFW or Waco to the shores of Lake Whitney. You’ll find clear water, plenty of campsites, and a great place to relax with the family. We offer water activities galore, from fishing and swimming to boating and skiing. On shore, you can explore our trails, see the stars, try geocaching, or set up camp. Rent our group recreation hall or camp for your next gathering. A wide variety of wildlife lives in the park. Watch for deer, raccoons, snakes, armadillos and opossums. Wild turkeys and bald eagles have also been sighted here.

Fish for largemouth, striped and white bass, or bring home a prize blue catfish. Get detailed fishing and lake information for Lake Whitney. The park has a boat ramp and a fish cleaning shelter. We also loan fishing gear for use in the park. You do not need a fishing license to fish from shore in a state park. We hold an annual youth fishing tournament on the first Saturday in June.

Choose from campsites with water only, water and electricity, or full hookups. We also have screened shelters, many with a lake view. Explore our trails, or get in your steps on park roads. All trails are open to hikers and bikers. While you are exploring, pay your respects to the Big Oak at headquarters and take in the view from Lake View Point.
