  Great weekend

We stayed here for a long weekend in August. We decided on this park too late to make a reservation, it was all booked. I called to ask how in demand the non-reservable sites were. The lady at the desk was very nice and very honest, there is a line about 2 hours before the park opens on Fridays. We decided to go up late on Thursday instead of risking not getting a site. There was not that much to choose from even Thursday night and we got site 116. We ended up being very happy with it. It was nice and close to a comfort station (my daughter and I have an aversion to vault toilets). It was quite large and fairly private (more due to the space between sites than the tree coverage. There were a lot of tall trees to secure things to and amazing drainage (lots of rain that weekend). It is a very long way to the beach and we ended up driving. The walk from the parking lot was also REALLY long to get to the 3rd beach and we would either ride our bikes from the car next time or stick with beach 1. We enjoyed the programs put on here. My daughters are crazy for the dip net program and would do it every day. We also enjoyed the bat program. Very interesting. We would come back to this site in a heartbeat.
