Amazing and interesting place! |

We stayed here last weekend and had a great time. We stayed at the Mecca Campground which was great because it was close to the water and wasn't busy. The sites are nice and big. We were really close to the water. Beautiful views of the Sea and Mountains. The first night was really calm and the water looked like glass. The 2nd night it got extremely windy though. When you go up to the water it looks like sand but it turns out it's trillions of little barnacles. There were some dead fish along the water. Very fascinating place. The ranger said it's safe to swim but recommends doing it in the spring when it's warmer. The Sea was man-made and is 40% saltier than the ocean. There are only two kinds of fish that can live within the Salton Sea but there are an estimated 400 million Tilapia fish. |
