  The canoeing Was Great
Reviewed on June 19th, 2020
We stayed at site 104 in the river camp ground in Jan. The campsite we stayed at had lots of privacy. there was no site on one side and enough vegetation on the other between the camp site. I can't say the same for the other camp sites, about half of them had no privacy in between sites. We had a bad experience with a ton of ants. They appeared to be moving nests or expanding as they created trails off the main nest and fanning out across the camp site. There is a little more shade at the river camp ground, but this area is mostly scrub. Overall it was decent. The canoeing was fantastic. The whole river is. we saw some alligators, turtles, blue crabs and osprey. We did not see as much as we would like, but that's partly because we did not do the hiking or biking. There have been reports of Manatee sightings, but we did not travel that far up river. We did not do any hiking or biking. If you do, understand that alot of the area is scrub and therefore has no shade. Overall our trip was good. It rained on and off both days, so my experience is a little skewed. Would like to try the hiking trails to see more wildlife next time. And i will stay away from the Pine grove campground unless I have a large camper or RV.
